Terms Summary: Key Rights and Responsibilities

  • Planning Aids, Not Guarantees: Calculators and reference tables perform pure mathematical modeling. They are planning aids, not guaranteed manufacturing instructions. Real crochet results depend on your hand tension, fiber elasticity, and physical swatching.
  • You Retain 100% Ownership of Your Content: All project titles, custom pattern formulas, yarn notes, and design records you record in your workspace belong exclusively to you. Yarnivo owns the underlying software, algorithms, SVG diagrams, and educational text.
  • Local Storage Responsibility: Projects are saved directly in your web browser. Yarnivo does not provide cloud synchronization or store your data on our servers. You are responsible for preserving backups using our built-in JSON export feature.
  • Free and Lawful Craft Use: You are welcome to use Yarnivo for your own personal crafting, independent pattern design, craft workshops, or commercial handmade garment and blanket production.

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("user", "you", or "crafter") and Hapad Ltd. ("Yarnivo", "we", "us", or "our"), governing your access to and use of https://yarnivo.com, including all associated calculation tools, educational guides, reference charts, and browser-based project storage features.

By accessing or using any portion of Yarnivo, you agree that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, as well as our Privacy Policy, Cookie and Browser Storage Policy, and Calculation Disclaimer. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must immediately discontinue using the website.

2. Description of Service & Supported Uses

Yarnivo provides free online calculation utilities, educational reference guides, and personal tracking tools for crochet and fiber crafts, including:

  • Gauge & Tension Calculations: Calculating stitches and rows per 10cm and 4 inches, and computing projected project stitch counts.
  • Blanket Foundation Planning: Calculating inner fabric widths, stitch repeat multiples, edge allowances, and foundation chain starting counts.
  • Stitch Repeat Compatibility: Verifying if a given stitch count satisfies pattern multiples ($S = n \times m + e$) and identifying neighboring compatible stitch numbers.
  • Even Increase & Decrease Distribution: Computing discrete integer grouping sequences to distribute stitch alterations uniformly across flat rows.
  • Swatch-Based Yarn Estimation: Estimating total yarn mass, yardage, and skein requirements from user-weighed swatch samples and project surface dimensions.
  • Unit Conversions: Converting centimeters to inches, meters to yards, and grams to ounces using exact scientific standards.
  • Interactive Tracking: Operating an in-browser row counter with undo history and managing project dossiers locally.
Permitted Commercial Craft Use: You are fully authorized to use the calculations and outputs generated by Yarnivo to design original crochet patterns, create physical blankets or garments for craft fairs or commercial sales, or teach students in workshops. You do not owe royalties to Yarnivo for physical items or patterns planned with our tools.

3. User Responsibilities & Craft Realities

To ensure accurate and satisfying craft outcomes, you acknowledge and agree that:

  1. Input Accuracy: Yarnivo’s calculators perform deterministic calculations based strictly upon the numbers you enter. If you enter incorrect swatch dimensions, imprecise scale weights, or wrong gauge counts, the resulting calculations will reflect those errors. You are responsible for double-checking all measurements before purchasing expensive yarns or cutting skeins.
  2. Mandatory Physical Swatching: Mathematical modeling can never simulate how a physical fiber will behave after washing, wet blocking, or hanging under its own weight. You must always crochet, wash, and block a physical test swatch to establish your personal gauge before starting major projects.
  3. Pattern Primacy: When working from an established designer pattern, the specific designer instructions (such as turning chain conventions, foundation chain offsets, or corner miters) take absolute precedence over generic calculation assumptions.

4. Intellectual Property & User Ownership

A. Yarnivo Intellectual Property

The website architecture, TypeScript source code, pure calculation modules, original vector SVG diagrams, brand wordmark, logo, typography design, layout styling, and educational articles are the exclusive property of Hapad Ltd. and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws. You agree not to:

  • Scrape, systematically extract, or mirror Yarnivo’s code, calculators, or educational guides to create a competing website or commercial application.
  • Republish our original educational guides, worked examples, or vector diagrams elsewhere without prior written authorization from Hapad Ltd..
  • Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or legal notice displayed on the website.

B. Complete User Ownership of Craft Data

You retain 100% full, exclusive ownership and copyright over your original project notes, yarn descriptions, pattern numbers, and custom craft records stored in your workspace. Yarnivo claims zero ownership interest, license, or intellectual property rights over any craft content you enter.

5. Local Storage, Backups, and Absence of Automatic Synchronization

Yarnivo is engineered with a privacy-focused, zero-database architecture. All project records, notes, and counter positions exist solely within your personal device’s web browser via localStorage.

  • No Central Cloud Sync: Your saved projects do not synchronize across devices. A project created on your desktop computer will not appear on your mobile phone or tablet unless you manually export and import a backup file.
  • Data Loss Risk: Because your data is stored locally in your browser, clearing your browser history, deleting site data, using private/incognito browsing windows, or experiencing a device hardware failure will permanently delete your stored projects.
  • Crafter Backup Duty: You can export complete, portable JSON backups at any time via the "Export All Backup" button in My Projects. You are solely responsible for exporting and preserving these backup files. Hapad Ltd. does not possess your data and cannot recover lost local browser records under any circumstances.

6. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree to use Yarnivo only for lawful, non-abusive crafting and educational purposes. You agree that you will not:

  • Deploy automated scripts, bots, spiders, or crawlers that generate excessive traffic or degrade site availability for other crafters.
  • Attempt to compromise the security, integrity, or network infrastructure of Yarnivo or its Cloudflare edge network.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble client-side JavaScript bundles to repackage proprietary calculation routines for commercial resale.
  • Impersonate Yarnivo, Hapad Ltd., or our editorial team, or misrepresent an affiliation with our brand.

7. Third-Party Links & External Citations

Yarnivo references and links to reputable external resources, including the Craft Yarn Council (CYC), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and fiber craft standards. These links are provided solely as educational references. Hapad Ltd. does not operate, control, or endorse these third-party websites and assumes no responsibility for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices.

8. Service Availability & Modifications

We strive to keep Yarnivo continuously accessible worldwide via Cloudflare’s distributed edge network. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted, bug-free, or 100% uptime. We reserve the right to modify, refine, improve, or temporarily suspend any calculation feature, educational guide, or site component at our sole discretion without prior notice.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

Please read this section carefully, as it establishes the limits of our legal liability.

YARNIVO AND ALL CONTENT, CALCULATORS, WORKED EXAMPLES, AND STORAGE UTILITIES ARE PROVIDED STRICTLY ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR CRAFT PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL Hapad Ltd., ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AFFILIATES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF YARNIVO, INCLUDING:

  • Finished fabric sizing discrepancies, tension drift, garment ill-fit, or post-blocking changes.
  • Yarn shortfalls, dye lot mismatches, surplus yarn purchases, or material costs resulting from swatch-based estimation formulas.
  • Loss of locally saved craft projects, notes, or row counter history resulting from cleared browser storage, device failure, or software updates.
  • Any mathematical errors, typographical slips, or omissions in educational guides or reference charts.

Statutory Consumer Rights: Nothing in these Terms shall limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any statutory consumer rights that cannot be disclaimed or waived under the applicable consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction.

10. Governing Law & Informal Dispute Resolution

These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable to Hapad Ltd., without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.

In the event of any question, disagreement, or dispute arising under these Terms, you agree to first contact Hapad Ltd. in good faith at support@yarnivo.com so that we may attempt to resolve the issue amicably and informally before commencing formal legal proceedings.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to revise or update these Terms of Use at any time. Any changes will be posted directly to this URL with a revised "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of Yarnivo following the posting of revised Terms constitutes your binding agreement to the modifications.
